Balthasar Streiff

Balthasar Streiff – the poet with the horns

Balthasar Streiff, from Basel, plays the alphorn, büchel, trumpet, tuba, cornet and congeneric instruments. He studied fine arts and jazz at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and Schola Cantorum for Early Music. In 1996 he co-founded the internationally renowned duo “stimmhorn” with Christian Zehnder. Diverse theatre work. In the alphorn quartet “hornroh”, he moves between traditional Swiss music and contemporary music. Streiff also performs solo programmes and is a lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.  www.streiffalphorn.ch

Thomas Aeschbacher

Thomas Aeschbacher – the master with the swiss accordion

Thomas Aeschbacher, from Langenthal, gained his first musical experiences in his father Werner Aeschbacher’s swiss accordion trio and later in a jazz quartet, steelband and with other pioneering swiss accordion players. He is a member of the trio “Pflanzplätz” and also investigates new sound patterns and original sounds as a soloist with musical partners such as the Bernese group Traktorkestar. “Aeschbi” plays the langnauerli, stöpselbass, swiss accordion, guitar, cajón and piano. www.thomasaeschbacher.ch

Singoh Nketia

Singoh Nketia – the magician with the beats

Singoh Nketia alias DJ Flink, from Liestal, is the producer of TAF, a hip-hop group from Basel and the surrounding area. It was founded in 1997 by the two MCs Taz and Aman as well as DJ Flink, hence the name TAFS. He hosted the radio show “vo7bisFlink” with the singer Seven on SRF Virus. Singoh, who is the son of a Ghanian drum master (Nana Twum Nketia), is also an active drummer and percussionist and works in his own recording studio – “Studio 44”. www.facebook.com/Flink.Beatz

Barbara Berger

Barbara Berger – the voice of the Alps

Following an apprenticeship as an interior designer, she dedicated herself wholly to music and theatre. She took up jazz studies at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and trained as a classical singer and singing teacher at the Bern University of the Arts. She continued her studies in classical singing, and took part in courses on experimental music theatre, spoken theatre and improvisation. However, Berger learnt the fundamentals through participating in numerous projects and meeting musicians from all walks of life, dancers, actors, clowns.
